The Constellation Branch - The Dream Life, The Real Life, The Empty Glass... (2008)

This Phoenix four-piece has been setting the blogosphere on fire for the past week or so with this release; everyone and their dog seems to be getting blown away by this little band's debut album, which I would compare favorably (as other reviewers have) to a mix of mewithoutYou and Radiohead, with a bit of '80s/'90s emo flair thrown in for good measure; what makes this so surprisingly good is that it doesn't sound like a debut; this sounds like a band that's spent years perfecting their sound

Afraid! - Megaloklift (2009)

Italian post-hardcore/screamo band, with heavy influence of post-punk and psychedelia, this is a quick listen but it's really great, I find myself listening to it three or four times in a sitting because it's so addicting

Snowing - Tour Tape (2009)

Two-song tape that these guys would have sold on their tour, had their van not broken down; this is more of the great emo/post-hardcore stuff that we've already come to expect from this band, and the track "So I Shotgunned a Beer and Went to Bed" in particular is fucking GREAT; I'd tell you to go buy a copy of this, but there were only 50 and they already sold out (I got one woooo), so instead go pre-order a copy of their soon-to-be-released 7" from Square of Opposition Records

O! The Joy - Zen Mode (2008)

These Sacramento dudes make a crazy mixture of prog, math rock, krautrock, post-hardcore, and indie rock, and yet despite the usually-serious nature of those genres, this album is an incredibly fun listen; you've never heard anything quite like this

Snowing - Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit (2009)

Great first release by this Pennsylvania post-hardcore-ish band, I'd call them emo but most people don't know what that word actually means, uneducated assholes, anyway yeah check this out
